"How do we create a CRAIGSLIST community?"

Well...that's a question that tens of thousands of people are asking every day. The answer is...you can't. It's a major problem with the way Craigslist defines a community. They do it by city name. This immediately creates discrimination because you are either in our your not.

That's why a new website, called 4grabs.org, was developed in a small town in California...because they were tired of waiting to be included in Craigslist.

Instead of defining communities by city or region, they attach a geographic location [geotag] to each post. The location can be anywhere on the surface of the earth. They have a search engine that picks posts by their location and displays them to you on a map of your community.

They've just finished their beta testing in the Santa Cruz area of California so most of the postings are in that area. But 4grabs.org will work in your area right now. All you need to do is start posting and spread the word.

Internet classified ads do not typically use per-line pricing models, so they tend to be longer. They are also more readily searchable unlike their offline brethren, tend to be local, and may foster a greater sense of urgency as a result of their daily structure and wider scope for audiences.
